Spring 2010 Semester Completed

This is a picture of the Learning Assistance Program's lab where I worked the last four years. This last semester was very stressful because our program's budget was cut 40% so we knew there would be major changes which included layoffs. The character traits that come out in people working under these conditions can be challenging to say the least. (I include myself as one of the imperfect characters contributing to the turmoil.)

I will spare you the grueling details of all that transpired the last couple of months... My dear friend and coworker in the lab decided to retire. She deserves to after working for Hancock college over 30 years! I am happy for her although I will miss her terribly.

Shortly after my coworker retired, I went through the exhausting process of applying and interviewing for her position. Fortunately I did get the position. I am the new DSPS (Disabled Students' Program and Services) Specialist. The college is hiring another person to do my old position so there will be two of us in the lab doing what was three people's jobs up until now but at least I have a job!

I am very happy to have completed the last school year and to be on summer vacation for two months!

I had a better picture with students but because of the confidentiality issue I can not put it up.

I will try to add a picture of me at my desk in the lab.

I am glad you got the job. I bet you would do a good job for those students...
