I was fortunate to have a week off work before Christmas so I could make a few last preparations and mostly rest, relax and try to have the spirit of Christmas.
I like the quote a friend gave in his Christmas letter by Calvin Coolidge many years ago: “Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”

The next day we picked up Dad and drove to Dick and Georgia’s house for a Christmas luncheon with more family. It was wonderful to visit with everyone. Even though D and G only live about 30 minutes from me, I don’t get to see them often enough!

For me the highlight of the luncheon was having the opportunity to play an ukulele with Dick and Georgia while we all sang Christmas songs! How thrilling!!!

Dad, Joan, Dean and I were excited to have another special visitor spend time with us Christmas eve and day: Jason. He and Joan even let Dean take a picture of the three of us, however, I promised Jason I would not put it on my blog so that is why I am not sharing it.

I missed having Alicia and Stephen with us Christmas. This year they were with Stephen’s family and had a great time. I did enjoy seeing both of them over my break.

I went back to work last Wednesday but it is not busy so I have plenty of time to remember what a joyful and happy holiday I had!
